Itinerary at a glance 

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu

  • Welcome to Kathmandu, the Kingdom situated between India and Tibet, famed for Mount Everest and rich cultural heritage.
  • Kathmandu, the capital, is a valley south of the Great Himalayas with a synthesis of Nepal's cultural and artistic legacy.
  • The city boasts stupendous palaces, temples, sculptures, and carvings, showcasing the influence of successive dynasties.
  • Kathmandu is the largest city in Nepal, hosting numerous festivals that surpass the count of days in a year.
  • The valley holds seven heritage sites enlisted in the cultural World Heritage Site list.
  • Upon arrival, proceed through immigration, collect your luggage, and clear customs.
  • Look for a Memorable Journeys Representative holding a paging board with your name at the exit.
  • Transfer to the hotel for check-in.
  • Meet your Trekking Guide for a briefing on the upcoming trek.

Day 2: Kathmandu - Lukla Fly Trek - Phakding

  • Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to Kathmandu Airport.
  • Take a 45-minute flight to Lukla, experiencing a spectacular landing on a narrow, sloping runway.
  • Allow 2 days for acclimatization with a trek to Namche Bazaar.
  • Lunch at Yeti Mountain Home lodge in Lukla.
  • Start trek with an easy, mostly downhill leg from Lukla to Phakding.
  • Trek through Sherpa pastoral lands, passing villages, farms, and tea houses.
  • Encounter intricately carved stones with Tibetan prayers and prayer wheels.
  • After 2-3 hours, reach Phakding located beside the Dudh Koshi river.
  • First lodge at Phakding is at an altitude of 2610 meters.
  • Total walk duration: 3 hours.
  • Overnight stay at Yeti Mountain Home with full board.

Day 3: Phakding – Namche Bazaar (3,440 M)

  • Rest day in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization.
  • Local excursions: Hike to Sagarmatha National Park Visitor’s Centre and Museum.
  • Total walk: 5-6 hrs.
  • Overnight at Yeti Mountain Home (Full Board).

Day 4: Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar

  • Optional rest or excursion to Khumjung and Kunde for Everest views.
  • Explore Namche Bazaar and nearby attractions.
  • Total walk: 2-3 hrs.
  • Overnight at Yeti Mountain Home (Full Board).

Day 5: Namche Bazaar – Tengboche - Debuche (3,770 M)

  • Trek towards Everest Base Camp.
  • Visit Tengboche monastery and Debuche.
  • Total walk: 6-7 hrs.
  • Overnight at Himalayan Culture Lodge / Rivendel Hotel (Full Board).

Day 6: Debuche – Dingboche (4,410 M)

  • Trek through rhododendron forest to Dingboche.
  • Explore Pangboche village and monastery.
  • Total walk: 6-7 hrs.
  • Overnight at Summit Lodge / Bright star / Khumbu Resort (Full Board).

Day 7: Acclimatization at Dingboche

  • Rest day for exploration: Chhukung and Imja valleys.
  • Optional trek for rewarding views.
  • Overnight at Summit Lodge / Bright star / Khumbu Resort (Full Board).

Day 8: Dingboche – Lobuche (4,910 M)

  • Gradual ascent to Lobuche.
  • Visit memorial stupas dedicated to climbers.
  • Total walk: 6-7 hrs.
  • Overnight at Eco Lodge / Pyramid Lodge (Full Board).

Day 9: Lobuche – Gorakshep – Everest Base Camp

  • Trek to Gorakshep, then Everest Base Camp.
  • Witness Khumbu Glacier and icefall.
  • Total walk: 7-8 hrs.
  • Overnight at Yeti Resort / Himalayan Lodge (Full Board).

Day 10: Gorakshep – Kalapathar (5,545M) – Kathmandu

  • Early trek to Kalapathar for sunrise over Mt. Everest.
  • Return to Gorekshep for breakfast.
  • Helicopter transfer to Lukla and then to Kathmandu.
  • Leisure time at the hotel.
  • Overnight at Hyatt Regency.

Day 11: Kathmandu

  • Visit Bhaktapur and Patan for cultural exploration.
  • Explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan's fine arts.
  • Visit Boudhanath in the late afternoon.
  • Evening at leisure.
  • Overnight at Hyatt Regency.

Day 12: Depart Kathmandu

  • In time transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport.
  • Connect flight for onward destination.
  • Farewell from our representative.

Important Information

Visa/Entry Permit

  • A visa for Nepal can be obtained on arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and at other border entry points. The Department of Immigration, Nepal has been encouraging more tourists’ visits by providing ‘Visa on Arrival’, which is a quick and simple procedure.
  • In other countries, a visa can also be obtained from the Nepal Embassy or Diplomatic Mission. The Nepali Visa fee, which is USD 30 for 15 days, has to be paid in cash.

Dos and Don'ts

  • The common gesture for greeting anyone in Nepal is by saying ‘Namaste’ and putting the palms together in a prayer-like gesture.
  • Major Hindu temples are usually off-limits for foreigners, So don’t enter them unless the permission is given also do not take any leather articles inside the temple area as they are prohibited.
  • Before entering a Nepalese home, temple or monastery do remember to remove your shoes outside.
  • Walking inside the temples or stupas is traditionally done clockwise direction.
  • Men should not walk/trek around bare-chested. Shorts are acceptable but long pants are better considering the weather and topography. Women are also recommended to wear long skirts or pants.
  • Eat only using your right hand as eating with your left hand is considered unhygienic. Consuming beef is strictly prohibited among Hindus.
  • Most Nepalese directly use their fingers to eat and using spoons or forks is not common, however you may do so if you are comfortable with it.
  • Public display of affection is frowned upon so avoid any such acts in public.
  • Don’t take photographs of the locals, holy shrines & temples unless they have clearly given their permission.
